Crayons have a reputation for being a beginner medium. But artist-grade crayons are something else entirely — waxy, saturated, unpredictable in the best way. This set brings that energy into Procreate.

Nine brushes, each with a distinct texture and personality. From grungy and rough to soft and buttery, they're built to layer, blend, and behave like the real thing. Whether you're going for loose and expressive or bold and graphic, there's a brush in here for that mood.

Now with full Apple Pencil Pro support, including Barrel Roll.

Instant download. Use them within minutes of purchase.

What's in the Set (9 Brushes)

Grungy Rough, uneven, full of character. Great for raw textures and anything that's supposed to feel a little imperfect.

Soft Smooth and even with a gentle crayon feel. Ideal for soft fills, light shading, and building up color gradually.

Hard Firm and crisp, like pressing down with a freshly unwrapped crayon. Good for bold lines and solid coverage.

Soft n Fine The best of both — softness with enough detail for more delicate areas. Sits in a sweet spot between expressive and controlled.

Streaky Every stroke has movement built into it. The streakiness adds energy and keeps fills from looking flat.

Blotchy Uneven and rustic. Adds a handmade quality that's hard to fake with cleaner brushes.

Coarse Gritty and bold. Feels like dragging a thick crayon across rough paper. Great for statement marks and heavy texture.

Canvas Texture Simulates drawing on canvas. Adds a traditional, tactile quality to your fills and linework.

Light Coverage Low opacity, delicate marks. Perfect for building color slowly or adding a subtle crayon layer over other media.

Why These Feel Different

I'm a working illustrator. These brushes started with real artist-grade crayons from my studio — the kind that actually behave like a medium worth taking seriously. Scanned, tested, and tuned until drawing with them felt like the real thing.

When the tools are right, you stop thinking about the technology and just draw.

FAQs

They're built from scanned artist-grade crayon textures — real wax drag, real paper grain, real pigment variation — so the marks have the physical quality of the actual medium. The Grungy, Coarse, and Blotchy brushes especially read as traditional media. That said, how realistic the final piece looks depends on how you use them — layering and varying pressure gets you much closer to the real thing than flat single strokes.

Procreate's default crayons are generic. This set was built from artist-grade crayons specifically — higher pigment, more interesting wax texture, more variety in how the marks behave. You get 9 distinct brushes with different personalities: smooth vs. rough, streaky vs. blotchy, heavy coverage vs. light. If the built-in ones feel too clean or too similar to each other, this set gives you the range and character they don't.

Yes — the Soft and Soft n Fine brushes are particularly good for this. They give you smooth, even coverage that stays inside a line without fighting you, while still keeping the waxy crayon texture that makes the result look hand-colored. The Light Coverage brush is also useful for a more subtle, layered coloring effect over existing linework.

The brushes work on any iPad that runs Procreate — you don't need the latest model. Barrel Roll is the only feature that requires specific hardware, specifically Apple Pencil Pro, which is only compatible with iPad Pro M4 and iPad Air M2 and later. Every other feature in the set works with any Apple Pencil on any Procreate-compatible iPad.

For most crayon-style work, yes — 9 brushes covers the full range from smooth and soft to rough and expressive. The set was designed to be complete without being overwhelming. If you work heavily in mixed natural media and want colored pencil and oil pastel brushes in the same workflow, the other sets pair well with this one. But as a standalone crayon toolkit, 9 distinct brushes is plenty.
